FABRIC DIARY QUILTS
"I want to tell you a story. I want to tell you a story." There was a time in 1998 when my life's tectonic plates were shifting dramatically and that phrase kept coming into my mind at unlikely moments. I didn't understand it at the time, but neither did I forget it. As I review my quilts of the past several years, I realize that through my fabric diaries I am "telling you a story."
"American in Asia," made in 1996, is a highly personal account of four weeks in Asia. "The Journey," made six years later in 2002, is a far more all-encompassing narrative. In the last few years, I've reached that happy realization that we all come to with maturity: that ALL of us go through these universal experiences and it's called "Life." With this in mind, as my quilts tell you my small stories, I strive to tell you all of our stories.
