AMERICAN IN ASIA

This art quilt is a fabric diary of my four week trip through Asia in 1995. Each square represents a "page" and a day of my trip. The flag represents my "Americanism" being overlaid by and encrusted with all my Asian experiences.

This quilt was part of Quilt National 1997 and The Quilted Surface in Germany 2002. It has been written up in Fiberarts, Art/Quilt Magazine, and Robert Shaw's book, "The Art Quilt." Also published in the 2004 "Quilt National Viewers' Favorites" Calendar. (53 x 83") 1996.
